The Blue Wing Olive imitates the baetis mayflies common in most trout waters in the United States during much of the year. Hatches start late winter in southern waters lasting into the late fall. This is one fly that all trout stream anglers should carry as trout will often take the BWO over bigger insects hatching at the same time.

These flies are tied on Mustad or Dai-Riki hooks and are hackled with Hoffman hackle.
