True, this is not a hard-side case, it is an all-foam case that gives you a very lightweight, secure (it floats) way to carry your flies. As a backpacker, this is the perfect type of fly box for someone who is concerned about how much weight one is carrying into the back-country. I also do a lot of conventional fishing, and this box is great at holding lures as well (stick the hooks into the foam, just like with flies). Given the advantage of extreme light weight of a case like this, I'm not sure why one would need a hard-side case to protect flies to begin with.

Found this product at Gander Mountain for 14.99 and could not believe Flambeau put their name on it. It was flimsy and not comparable at all to the hard shell cases for flys. I did not buy it and would not recommend it either.
