I wanted to get into the world of fly fishing so I bought this combo from Academy a few weeks ago. After using it, the screws are coming loose in the reel, I'll have to remove all the screws and apply locktight to keep them from comming loose. The line is suppost to be weight foward line but appears to only be regular line, I will upgrade to a better line. While casting this three piece rod, it has a tendancy to come apart which is not good while fishing. I guess its ok for a first fly combo, after I upgrade the line and fix the reel, it might be better. I might even glue the rod together to keep it from coming apart while casting. But I guess you get what you pay for, Once I work the kinks out of it, I think it will be ok. If youre just learning and dont want to spend a lot of money or on a budget(like me), this might work for you, but if you have a little extra I would recomend buying something a little nicer. Thanks for reading , hope my thoughts were helpful!!!!

I bought the 9ft combo, I like it but it is not trouble free. No.1, the smaller of the two connecting joints comes apart occasionally when casting, not a good thing. Seating the joint with this in mind, tight in other words, helps but it still happens. Probably just my pole and not typical. No. 2, there was no 4X leader in the combo. The combo package did not show it as included, I think the ad is wrong and should be changed.
Great Value.,

We have used this fishing rods a lot, and it has performed well. For the money, it is a great value.
