Quantum Q-Micro Series Ultra Light Freshwater Spinning Fishing Combo

I decided to buy a Quantum QMS502UL (rod) / QM05F (reel) fishing combo. Price was dirt cheap and knowing that much more expensive UL rods and reels exist, I was expecting a spaghetti-like rod that can barely handle the lightest lure, let alone small fishes.

I was wrong. For the price, the rod is excellent. Guides, cork handles, finishing... all very nice. I tested with really small lures first like the smallest Reef Runner Cicadas and Kastmasters, all of which you can cast amazingly far despite the rod being just 5 ft long. On the other extreme, the rod handled heavier, 1/8oz and 1/4oz lures with ease (it has the official lure wt.range of 1/64oz - 1/8oz). Having a decent fish on a 2lb line is quite an experience. I personally can't think of a sane(!) situation where this rod would broke. I had to mention though that I had a small problem with mine. The blank was a bit loose inside the cork handle and it produced an annoying "click" noise at every cast/jerk but a few drops...Read more

Very nice rod, but the reel seat is small and some reels will not fit, my Quantum SS1 works fine.
