I've had this reel for roughly 5 months and have put it through the stress of a couple 21" trout that I was able to land using the 5/6 reel on a 5-weight rod. The reel definitely sings under these conditions, and will require finesse even with the drag set to full, but to me that's what the sport is about. I don't want the disc-drag to hold my hand. I like playing the line myself with the assist of the clicking drag.
It's good value, and has held up well with over 100 fishing days under it. No damage, no reduction in quality, still works the same as it was new. Can't ask more from a reel with a price less than $100.
Top notch reel!,

If you're old school and like the clicker reels look no further. Superbly machined reel that is better finished than some of my higher priced disc drag reels. How many times have you needed a disc drag anyway? Granted you can get a disc drag for not much more but this is such a nice, no frills reel that I'll gladly give up the disc drag (that I don't use) for this one. Most of the top notch machined clicker reels are double this price. From now on all my trout rods will sport these reels. Big game reels will still have the discs though. Long term use is still in question but I can't really see any thing that can go wrong but time and hard use will tell.
Great reel!!!,

This is a great reel for smaller and lighter rods. i love the sound of it! click and pawl reels are great for small trout even though it does have a drag that changes the tension of the clicker inside.
pros:
1. the weight and size is perfect for backpacking.
2. love the click for small mountain trout.
3. if you buy a $100 large arbor 5 in reel then it wont be as high qaulity b/c the price is compacted inside of this small goor looking reel.
cons:
1. i guess it wouldn't be good if you want big fish and can't palm a reel for drag.
I got the 3/4 wt by the way. for my st croix 7' 9'' avid
