This review is from: Royal Wulff Fly Fishing Fly (Misc.)
This is a breakthrough in dry fly design, that occurred when Lee Wulff took the basic form of a Royal Coachman and transformed it into a high floating, heavily hackled, hair wing variation. The invention of the Royal Wulff spawned a whole new category of searching dry flies; all share the Royal's characteristics of high visibility to the fisher person, and buggy looking appearance to the trout.
The Royal Wulff is especially effective in rough water or situations where long casts are necessary to get to where the fish are lurking.
This is a tough fly to tie yourself; positioning the calf tail wings in the midst of the heavy hackle is a finicky operation, especially in the smaller sizes. Do like me. Save yourself the aggravation and buy this turn key version.
You won't regret it.
