The sage 1650 4-6wt fly reel is pretty affordable and yet deliver in both quality and performance.
The reel itself has a special "O" ring housing system which is exclusive to sage reels.
The reels drag is pretty reliable which is sealed from and dirt and especially sand. It's smooth oscillation helps with line retrieval and is reliable.
The only negative aspect of this reel is that the metal which the spool is made of is rather soft and could be bent out of shape easily and effect the reel on a whole.
Other then that, the sage has been a pleasant reel being light and efficient.
Great entry level reel.,

So smooth and it reels very nicely. I like how quiet it is when stripping line and also when reeling. The drag system is awesome and works well. Caught my first rainbow with it yesterday, no problems at all. Just be careful about dropping the reel on rocks or pavement as the aluminum is kinda soft. It is also a little heavy but I like that, makes me feel like I've got a quality product in my hand.
Excellent Reel for $,

I already own this reel and extra spools for my 6 wt SRC saltwater beach rod. I decided to purchase this reel and two spare spools for a 5wt rod that I have for larger trout in lakes. Planning a trip up to Canada for Kamloops in 2012.
I have not had any problems with Sage rods or reels. Great company and customer service if ever needing repairs.
